(Q): Please introduce yourself to the camera.
Hailin: Hello everyone. I am Hailin Qi, an MMA athlete of Mongolian ethnicity.
Q: Today is your debut fight in “Happy Elephant MMA”, please tell us about your feelings!
Hailin: I signed up for this fight a long time ago, but our club moved to Shanghai and I stayed in Beijing to train with an older brother.
I didn’t have a good preparation for this fight. It was a bit scattered. I had at least a month off in the two months before the fight. I didn’t train much, my physical strength was a bit low. That was the biggest challenge.
Q: When did you first get involved with MMA?
Hailin: It was a few years ago, around 2015. I got into MMA because I used to practice Sanda, which is a traditional Chinese martial art. I came from a Sanda background. When I switched to MMA professionally, I didn’t think much about it. I thought it would be similar to Sanda, something relatively easy. So in 2015, I started my journey in mixed martial arts and pursued it as a professional career.
Q: What do you think are the most important qualities to become an excellent martial artist?
Hailin: The most important qualities are respect for the sport, respect for your opponent and respect for yourself.
